How to Access the Training

DOI Employees:

To take the course all federal employees and contractors need to log into the DOI Learn Learning Management System at https://doilearn.doi.gov and register for the training. For instructions on logging onto the DOI Learn system, please visit our DOI Learn site at http://www.doiu.nbc.gov/doilearn.

Note: Interior employees who take the CD-ROM version of the course using the instructions below will have to have their completions recorded in the DOI Learn system. Depending on your bureau, this may be done by your supervisor, a training officer or your DOI Learn Bureau Data Steward.

All Others:

You need to download the following course zip file. Instructions on how to access the training are below the link.

Click here to download the course.

Instructions for Using the zipped Course on CD-ROM

The files contained in this zipped folder can be run from a PC or copied to a CD-ROM and played from CD-ROM. For most users, there will be no sound unless a CD-ROM is used.

After clicking on the link, be sure to Save the file to a location on your PC (Do not open).

Once the zipped file is saved, it must be extracted. Right click on the file name and Extract All. You can accept the default location and the files will be placed in a folder with the same name in the same location on your PC.

To copy to CD-ROM, open the extracted folder, and the folder within that folder. You should see two folders (courses and lms) and four other files. Copy these two folders and the four files to the CD-ROM.

From either CD-ROM or the PC, you can click the "start" file and follow directions to play the course. Detailed instructions are contained in the "Instructions" MS Word document.

How do I print a certificate?
To obtain a certificate you will need to complete the post assessments with an average score of 75% or higher.

  1. After you’ve come to the last page of the training click the “Quit” button on the lower left hand corner of the page.
  2. Click on your browser's Refresh button or click on View (in the upper left hand corner of your screen) and Refresh to view your score and the status of your completion.
  3. Click on “Print Certificate.”

Why don't I see the "Print Certificate" button on the Course Details page even though I've finished the course?
Please launch the course and go to the course map. Make sure that all of the the boxes are shaded next to the post assessment sections. If they are not shaded:

  1. You may have received a score of less than 75%.
  • The word “review” will be next to the topics that relate to the post assessment questions that were not answered correctly. You can review these topics or you can go directly to the post assessments to answer the questions again.
  • After you’ve answered the questions and have viewed the “Lesson Summary” page with the list of topics that have been completed and passed, click on “Quit” in the lower left hand corner of the page to get to the Course Details page. Then click on your browser's Refresh button or click on View (in the upper left hand corner of your screen) and Refresh to update your score and the status of your completion.
What should I do if my progress is not being recorded?
Be sure you are not closing or refreshing the Course Details page (the page that lists your score and completion status) while the course is open.
You must first exit the course using the “Quit” button before doing anything on the Course Details page.

Option 1: Make adjustments on your computer.

  1. Pop-up blockers may interfere with the CD-ROM version of the course. Make sure that you have diabled your pop-up blocker, or Temporarily Accept Pop-ups From this Site.
  2. If the boxes next to “Post Assessments” are not shaded, or if the word “Review” is next to the topics in the lesson, try completing that post assessment again. After you answer all the questions you’ll see the Lesson Summary page that lists the topics that have been passed and completed. Then click on “Quit” to get to the Course Details page that lists your completion status. Refresh this page to see your updated score.

What if the training is running too slowly or freezes up?

Option 1: Email your bureau EEO/Civil Rights contact to get a paper version of the training. Detailed information on using a CD-ROM to access a course and print out a certificate of completion may be found on each CD by clicking on the file entitled “instructions.”

What if my score stays the same even though I've retaken the post assessments?
Be sure you have refreshed the page with your score (after you've closed the course itself.) If you still don't see your updated score contact the helpdesk at 202-208-6278.

Should contract employees take this training?
No. Contract employees are not required to complete this course. Some aspects of the training do not apply to contract employees.

What if I don’t have Internet access?
Email your bureau EEO/Civil Rights contact to get a CD-ROM version of the training. Detailed information on using a CD-ROM to access a course and print out a certificate of completion may be found on each CD by clicking on the file entitled “instructions.”

Do I have to review the topics with the "Review" message in the course map?
No. The Review message appears next to a topic when you have answered a post assessment question associated with that topic incorrectly. If your status shows as complete, you need to do nothing more to receive credit and print your certificate. If your status shows as incomplete you can review that topic again for more information or you can go directly to the post assessment to answer the questions correctly.

What if I don’t have access to a computer to take the training?
Email your bureau EEO/Civil Rights contact about getting a paper copy of the training.
