Foundation: Responsible Use of Data in Government

Target Audience:

Federal employees who work with data for and on behalf of the federal government, who want to learn how to work with and use data ethically, and who want to be prepared to apply the federal data ethics framework to all stages of the data lifecycle.

Summary:

While opportunities to leverage data continue to expand rapidly, so do potential risks and compliance concerns. Participants will engage in a series of real-life scenarios and exercises, exploring how relevant legal authorities affect the workplace and practice solving common issues that arise when working with data, data subjects, and stakeholders.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the foundations, benefits, and applications of the federal data ethics framework
  • Analyze how the relevant legal authorities governing the federal data ethics framework inform the collection, maintenance, and use of data in the federal government
  • Identify how to respect and protect the privacy, confidentiality, and rights of data subjects
  • Develop strategies for upholding honesty, accountability, and transparency during all stages of the data lifecycle
  • Develop strategies for monitoring and evaluating new developments in data management and science
  • Apply the federal data ethics framework throughout each phase of the Analytics Process Model

Please forward the payment credit card link to your credit cardholder as we do not take payments over the phone. Payment is due at registration, and it is the attendee’s responsibility to ensure payment is made. Failure to pay in a timely manner will result in your being dropped from the course. Your office will need to pay our tuition fee with an authorized government purchase card and not through EFT. We accept federally appropriated funds to pay the course tuition. DOI University cannot accept non-appropriated funds from the private sector nor personal payments. Our preferred method of payment is an authorized federal government credit card.  

DOI University Training Policies  

DOIU will send a confirmation email with specific class information about one week prior to your class. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class until you receive email confirmation from Learning Center or Professional Development Staff.
