Description:

Designed for Entry/Beginner Level FAC-P/PM students, this course introduces the student to the basic concepts required by the Competencies of Requirements Development and Management Processes, Systems Engineering, Test and Evaluation, and Life Cycle Logistics. Emphasis is on the fundamental terminology and concepts that the students will encounter in their day-to-day jobs. Specific topics addressed include the following processes: requirements development, market research, concept selection, technology development, core management skills of project management, risk and opportunity management, communications management, and working groups / teams. Additional topics addressed include the following: technical processes and technical management processes of systems engineering; creation of an integrated T&E strategy, including operational test and evaluation; and life cycle logistics management, product support, and interoperability. Exercises are included to allow the students to practice the skills that they are developing throughout the course. In addition, the course provides an extensive self-assessment tool the students can use to determine personal as well as organizational strengths and weaknesses that should be improved. Students will demonstrate their knowledge by answering review questions at various times during the class and by passing an end of class exam.

The course provides students with a review of COR duties and responsibilities. The course emphasizes enhancement of skills in contract preparation, formation, and administration through discussion and participation in exercises by applying lessons learned in the FAC-COR Level II certification course, experience gained in contract administration, and best practices. Students participate in group role-playing exercises and present their findings and solutions. Attendance at this course provides the participant with 40 credit hours and 40 continuous learning points (CLP).
