This course provides the foundation for basic concepts required by the Contracting Competency and fundamentals needed to effectively manage Federal contracts and acquisitions and satisfies the contracting performance outcomes necessary for the Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers (FAC-P/PM) at the entry level. Program and Project Managers (P/PMs) are required to have a thorough understanding of federal contracting actions and the policies that apply to the acquisition process. This course provides an introduction to federal contracting and focuses on the different phases of the acquisition life cycle: acquisition planning, contract formation, and performance & administration. The course also introduces and explains; the things that must be done "right" to have a successful contracting process. Learning Objectives and Outcomes: Describe the purpose, goals, and roles & responsibilities of the federal acquisition system. Discuss the importance and key aspects of acquisition planning. Describe the elements of contract formation: solicitation, evaluation, and award. Explain the functions performed to terminate and close out a contract. TARGET AUDIENCE: New Program and Project Management professionals seeking FAC-P/PM Entry certification.
