Federal employees are frequently required to interpret and communicate complex government language, including executive orders, policy directives, and regulatory updates. This Plain Language Training to help non-supervisory federal employees decode government jargon, interpret executive directives with confidence, and communicate more clearly and concisely in their daily work.

Unlike traditional business writing courses, this training provides practical strategies to simplify dense content, enhance accessibility, and improve both internal and external communication. Through real-world exercises, participants will learn how to effectively break down complex language and relay key information with clarity and precision.

This training supports federal agencies’ compliance with the Plain Writing Act of 2010, ensuring that employees can efficiently interpret and apply essential information in their work.

This course is designed for non-supervisory federal employees who regularly work with policy memos, executive orders, and agency directives and want to strengthen their ability to interpret, apply, and communicate key information effectively.

To Pay for Seminar: 

Tuition is payable with a federal or tribal purchase card or G-invoicing due at the time of registration.

To pay for training:https://doiu.doi.gov/cc/ or provide G-invoicing payment information (contact learning center for additional information).

Please forward the payment credit card link to your credit cardholder as we do not take payments over the phone. Payment is due at registration, and it is the attendee’s responsibility to ensure payment is made. Your office will need to pay our tuition fee with an authorized government purchase card and not through EFT. We accept federally appropriated funds to pay the course tuition. DOI University cannot accept non-appropriated funds from the private sector nor personal payments. Our preferred method of payment is an authorized federal government credit card.

Cancellation Policy:  Space in DOI University courses is limited. If you need to cancel, please provide written notification through email as early as possible. DOI University must receive the cancellation notification at least 15 business days in advance of the course start date. There are no refunds for cancellation notifications received after the designated time or for no shows, and tuition fees are not transferable to another course.

DOIU will send a confirmation email with specific class information about one week prior to your class. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class until you receive email confirmation from Learning Center Staff.
